Anantara Kalutara Resort opens in October. Located on the Sri Lankan coast, the new resort offers a beachfront atmosphere between the Indian Ocean and Kalu River. Geoffrey Bawa, the country’s most influential architect, inspired the 141 guestrooms, suites, villas and gardens. Guestrooms featuring terraces and balconies include views of the ocean, river and greenery. Choose between one- and two-bedroom suites and villas and enjoy enclosed garden terraces, private pools, outdoor dining space, Bose Bluetooth speakers and a villa host. The one-bedroom presidential suite boasts its own private plunge pool and sundeck. Three restaurants serve resort guests international and local cuisine, including Italian, Thai, Indian and Chinese specialties. Hands-on guests can take part in the on-site cooking school, Spice Spoons, while others can lounge at the Upper Deck Bar or plan a private dinner with help from Dining by Design. Common space includes a library, ocean-view pool, lagoon-side pool, spa, fitness centre and watersports centre. The Anantara Spa is home to 11 treatment rooms, two yoga and meditation pavilions and a lotus pond. A 500-seat conference centre opens on the property next March. Anantara Kalutara Resort is the brand’s second in Sri Lanka. The first, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle, opened in January.
