From Nov. 4–March 19, 2017, Zurich’s Museum für Gestaltung showcases current poster art in Esprit Français: Cultural Posters from France. The exhibition explores how contemporary French poster art seamlessly incorporates photography, typography and illustrations as part of message delivery. A companion exhibit, Les Suisses de Paris, details the influence of French design on Swiss graphic designers and typographers beginning in the 1950s, when Swiss graphic designers and typographers including Peter Knapp, Jean Widmer and Adrian Frutiger went on to work with Parisian firms Galeries Lafayette and type foundry Deberny & Peignot. Categories covered in the exhibition include signage, editorial design, film, photography, advertising graphics, scenography, corporate design, typography and type design.

The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
