Mövenpick is now one of the fastest-growing hotel companies in Asia, with 30 new South and Southeast Asia properties in the pipeline for 2020. The Swiss hotel group signed a record number of properties in 2016, a majority of which will be located in Asia and the Middle East.
“We enter 2017 in high confidence, building on our achievements over the past 12 months with firm plans to further grow our portfolio in line with our ambitious global expansion strategy. We’re well on track to operating over 100 properties by 2020,” said Olivier Chavy, president and CEO, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
Mövenpick, known for its attention to detail and premium guest services, will open new hotels and resorts in several key destinations in 2017, including China, the Philippines, Thailand and Sri Lanka. 2018 will see the opening of Mövenpick Resort Nha Trang in Vietnam and Mövenpick Resort & Spa Chendering, Kuala Terengganu, and in 2019 Mövenpick will open a resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
In 2020, the company will continue its expansion in Southeast Asia with its Mövenpick Quang Bình hotel, its fifth in Vietnam. The hotel will be ideally located in the coastal province, overlooking the Song Nhat Le River. The upscale, 219-room property will feature four premium food and beverage facilities, a state-of-the-art spa and pool and private access to a beautiful unspoiled beach for guests. The Quang Bình hotel will be located only seven kilometres from the regional airport and will allow for quick and easy access to several UNESCO natural landmarks and the Phong Nha-Ke Bàng National Park, home to the world’s largest cave.
The hotel company will also unveil an iconic property in Colombo, the thriving capital of Sri Lanka, which will be the first international 5-star property to open in the city in 25 years. Guests will enjoy panoramic city and ocean views from the floor-to-ceiling guestroom windows and the Vistas Rooftop Bar & Lounge. The hotel will feature large executive lounges and an exclusive business traveller reception service, as well as seven innovative bars and restaurants, including Brasserie, Colombo’s first in-hotel traditional French restaurant.
