According to a new survey from multinational airline technology company SITA of dozens of airlines worldwide, carriers are planning to invest heavily in Internet-based technology over the next three years to offer more convenience and reduce traveler anxiety. The survey revealed about 9 percent of air travelers today use digital tablets or smartphones to check in before boarding a flight. The rate is expected to increase to 24 percent by 2018. Automatic luggage drop-off machines are also becoming increasingly popular, with 74 percent of carriers expected to offer the service by 2018, up from the rate of 17 percent today. Additionally, 70 percent of airlines plan to offer technology that gives passengers updates on the location of their baggage by 2018, up from 10 percent today.

Earlier this year, COOKFOX Architects announced the opening of Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Long Branch, New Jersey’s, Monmouth University.
