Once the private home of Italy’s Borghese family, the 16^th-century annex to the Borghese Palace is now the Hotel Vilòn. Once upon a time, at the urging of Princess Adelaide, it transformed into the First School for Poor Girls, operated by an order of French nuns known as the Daughters of the Cross. Now a mix of 18 guestrooms and suites, the 5-star hotel is located centrally in the Campo Marzio area of Rome, and is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Select suites have private terraces that offer views of the Borghese Palace Gardens, while original works of art decorate guest spaces and common areas, including the Lounge Bar and Adelaide restaurant, with a menu of Mediterranean cuisine and traditional Roman dishes such as cherry-scented ,pan-seared pigeon breast.

The re-design process to convert the historic building to luxury hotel accommodations made the large windows and natural light a feature. The retro furnishings highlight sophisticated, contemporary spaces. Among the services offered are private cars, guided private tours, bicycling tours and specially themed activities for children.
