By 2020, Marriott International aims to operate 1,000 hotels in Asia Pacific, representing a 40 per cent growth.
The target could create up to 50,000 jobs in total. In 2019, the brand looks to add about 100 hotels and 20,000 rooms through expansion in India, Australia, Hong Kong and The Philippines.
“We are dedicated to Marriott International remaining Asia Pacific’s favorite travel company,” said Craig Smith, president and managing director, Marriott International Asia Pacific, at the end of his statement.
China offers the most expansion, with 300 hotels in the pipeline, or more than 50 per cent of the region’s hotel pipeline. India is the region’s second-largest growth sector, with more than 50 properties in development.
