Marriott updated 500 guestrooms across Costa Rica. The new designs are luxurious and modern, with local coffee culture and beach vibes serving as inspiration.

At the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel San Jose, guests enjoy decor elements derived from local and historic artwork, as well as the area’s coffee heritage. New furnishings are created from sustainably farmed, solid maple wood. Bathrooms now feature walk-in rain showers. The color palette is a mix of brown, terracotta and crimson hues.

Local photographer Armando del Vecchio provided photographs of Costa Rican coffee plantations for the guestrooms. The property features nearly 300 guestrooms, five restaurants, two pools, a spa, fitness center and meeting and event space.

“The rooms are more versatile. The business traveler will have different options to work: in bed, on the sofa and the desk. The number of connectivity ports was increased, and the desk is integrated into the television panel, where the guest can work, relax and eat comfortably. There are elements and special decorative details throughout the room.  For leisure travelers, on the other hand, we offer a connection to the destination in every detail of the room,” said Dennis Whitelaw, country manager, Marriott Hotels.

Los Suenos Marriott Resort unveiled new designs mimicking the ocean and rainforest views. Decorative elements are the work of national artisans. The color palette is vibrant, with greens and reds accenting coffee and cream tones. Furnishings are made from sustainable wood and include new sofas with pull-out beds.

All bathrooms in guestrooms at the resort now include low water consumption toilets, showers and faucets. Other sustainable room features include LED lighting and smart thermostats.

“Marriott Hotels and their owners have a strong commitment to sustainability and the implementation of all possible green practices, in Costa Rica our two Marriott hotels are also certified with the highest Sustainability Rating by the National Institute of Tourism, and they also have the ecological blue flag award in the climate change category, “said Whitelaw.

The Los Suenos Marriott Resort guestroom refurbishments are still underway, due for completion in April.
