An already robust codeshare agreement expanded last week between Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways. The expansion allows passengers travelling on the airlines to access more destinations. Travel to Malaysia, Qatar, Indonesia, Australia and the United States is now much easier for customers. In total, connectivity to 25 cities was improved, according to Malaysia Airlines.

“Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines have been codeshare partners since 2001. This latest enhancement opens up access to new gateways, making it easier for our global travellers to visit Malaysia and experience its warm hospitality and rich culture. We are delighted to strengthen codeshare partnership and our oneworld relationship with Malaysia Airlines through this latest expansion,” said Marwan Koleilat, senior vice president, Asia Pacific, Qatar Airways.

According to the new agreement, Qatar Airways’ code will be placed on 19 Malaysia Airlines flights. Malaysia Airlines’ code is being added to 10 Qatar Airways flights

The expansion gives customers new access to cities in the United States and Malaysia, including New York City, Miami, Boston, Kuantan, Kota Bharu and more.

In previous months, Qatar Airways announced expansions in its own network to Sweden, Vietnam and Kenya.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
