The Dorchester appointed Luca Virgilio as general manager starting January 2022; he will oversee operations and strategies for the London-based hotel. This appointment comes along with the news he will also manage a renovation of the Dorchester beginning February 2022.

Virgilio’s extensive experience in hospitality includes his more than seven years as general manager of the Dorchester Collection’s Hotel Eden in Rome. His time at Hotel Eden saw a restoration and renovation that elevated the hotel to become one of Rome’s most luxurious hotels. Hotel Eden earned several awards under Virgilio, including The One to Watch at Virtuoso Best of the Best Awards and Best Hotel in Europe at the Prix Villégiature Awards.

In 2021, Virgilio earned the Best Italian Hotelier at the DUCO Travel Summit. Virgilio’s work in Switzerland, London and Monte Carlo also prepared him for his new position at The Dorchester in London. Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer, Dorchester Collection, expressed his excitement of Virgilio’s arrival, saying Virgilio will “bring his flair and passion for excellence” to The Dorchester and its upcoming refurbishments.
