The 10^th annual ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival will unfold Sept. 15–17, in the stunning setting of Boulder, Colo. High-altitude events and programs were designed to engage audiences with thought leaders and renowned authors from around the world. Events will take place at the Main Boulder Public Library complex. There’s no admission fee, but attendees are required to register prior to the festival.

Here’s a glance at just a few of the 40 sessions taking place over the course of the three-day gathering:

• The Beat Generation: Social revolution expressed through the works of radical Beat Generation poets including Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg is the topic of a conversation between poet Anne Waldman and poet-translator Andrew Schelling.
• The Russian Revolution: The Russian Revolution of 1917, the establishment of the Marxist state, the ultimate overthrow of the tsar and the lasting effects of this period of history are explored in a discussion with Barbara A. Engel and David Shneer.
• Ancestral Cultures: Legacy of the First Nations; A conversation between Stephen Graham Jones and Janice Gould with moderator Margaret Coel takes a look at how Native American writers and authors maintain cultural identity and resist cultural oblivion through their work.
• The Great Outdoors: Moderator Irene Vilar leads a discussion about the lure of nature and the outdoor world featuring writer and adventurer Odd Harald Hauge, polar explorer John Huston and environmental author David Baron.
• Odissi Dance: Participate in a presentation and moving workshop of ancient Indian classical dance led by Swagata Banerjee, the artistic director and founder of Moksha Academy of Odissi Dance. This event is appropriate for families.
• Flights of Fancy: Public Works Puppet Theater: Families are invited to witness the tale of the friendship between a girl and a puffin, staged in a biodome with masks, puppets and adventure.
• Narratives of the Self: Authors Darryl Pinckney, Jovan Mays, Ruth Ellen Kocher and Marcia Douglas will lead a session of readings and conversation exploring how race, history and memory influence identity within the African American culture.
