Anyone who loves to fly will be in his or her element at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Founded in 1964 by a group of aviation buffs who recognized the importance of preserving artifacts that detailed the evolution of flight, the museum includes a lofty collection of air and space craft, a wide variety of flight-related memorabilia and robust educational programs that include special events, lectures, technical presentations and publications covering aeronautical and astronautical history.

Throughout 2016, visitors can experience The Boeing Centennial Exhibit, celebrating a century of Boeing Company aircraft, innovation and milestones. There’s plenty to see: Along with a retrospective of Boeing’s major achievements on display in the T.A. Wilson Great Gallery, there’s a replica of America’s first all-metal fighter aircraft, the 1930s Boeing P-26; plus a Boeing B-29 Superfortress and the fixed wing Boeing 100/P-12/F4B. A host of other Boeing craft is also on display. During specially themed Centennial Weekends, a different Boeing Era will be highlighted, and will include performances, film, dance and tasty tastings appropriate to the timeline. The Formidable Forties will be featured on April 9 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
