African stylist Annemarie Meintjes, and architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens of nature-based Ink Design Lab were the team behind the look of the newly opened Angama Mara luxury safari lodge, located above the Rift Valley in Kenya’s wildlife-rich Maasai Mara. A private hardtop airfield provides access to two separate camps, each comprised of 15 tented glass-front guest suites positioned along the edge of the Ololoolo escarpment with stunning views overlooking the Mara Triangle.

Suites have polished parquet floors and decks suspended above the Mara. When not viewing the magnificent wildlife on a day, night or walking safari, guests can view the landscape from the sky in a hot air balloon, browse from a library of hand-picked titles related to the camp’s surroundings including Ernest Hemingway’s Green Hills of Africa, work out while gazing upon the game reserve, swim in the 40-foot pool, or enjoy a curated gallery of African art, clothing and jewelry. Skilled local craftswomen are on hand in a sun-drenched onsite studio to add beaded embellishment to purchases.
