Frontiers offers a pulse-pounding tour of Iceland from behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery 4. Tour-goers will power across glaciers, magma fields and more on a five-day self-driving tour designed by Land Rover’s experts. Two Land Rover Experience instructors, a tour director, luxury boutique accommodations and cuisine are also included. Multiple itineraries are available in February and March 2016, starting at $7,159 per person.
Other highlights of the itinerary include visiting the geysers, glaciers and waterfall of the Golden Circle; driving in snow and ice with expert guidance; navigating by special permit the black volcanic sand beaches; snowmobiling Langjökull Glacier; and looking for the Northern Lights.
A sample itinerary:
Day One: Arrive in Keflavik, with accommodations at Hotel Borg.
Day Two: Get behind the wheel of the Land Rover and drive Iceland’s Route 1 to experience the southern coastline, with accommodations at Hotel Ion in Thingvellir National Park.
Day Three: Head along the southern shores of Iceland to Skógaoff Waterfall.
Day Four: Visit the Golden Circle, Iceland’s trio of natural attractions and snowmobile Langjökull Glacier.
Day Five: Explore downtown Reykjavik before departing.
