The stunning French alpine town of Courchevel will be the setting for the 9th annual Audi Fis Ladies Alpine Ski World Cup, Dec. 21–22. Events will be held at the Emile-Allais stadium, with races kicking off at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21, with the Audi FIS Ladies World Cup Giant Slalom event. The next day, the Audi FIS Ladies World Cup Slalom race once again gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
The trophy? A helmet designed by pop artist David Cintract goes to race winners, while runners-up in each race take away a three-liter Jeroboam of Devaux Champagne personally customized by Cintract (last year’s giant slalom champion was American skier Mikaela Shiffrin). Later in the month, Courchevel hosts the second stage of the Ladies Night Tour FFS, an international Ladies Alpine Skiing parallel slalom tournament made up of five events staged at five separate resorts.
If you grow weary of snow-related activities, head over to the Aquamotion Centre, the largest water-based entertainment complex in Europe. You’ll find it between Courchevel Village and Courchevel Moriond, with complimentary shuttle bus service to and from the resort’s various hotels. Choose from a five-slide waterslide, wild river experience, indoor surfing, soothing spa treatments, a paddling pool for children, aqua sport classes, cafés and restaurants, or a massive climbing wall to test your alpine skills.
