Kempsinki grew its presence in Africa with the acquisition of the famous Hotel Des Milles Collines in Rwanda’s capital of Kigali. Located at the heart of the Central Business District, the hotel was made famous by the film Hotel Rwanda as a place of refuge during the Rwandan genocide in 1994. The property features 112 guestrooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool, seven boutiques, a recreation area and meeting and event space, including a large conference room for up to 300 people. Plans for a major refurbishment to the guestrooms and restaurants are in place for the next 18 months to fully implement Kempsinki’s signature services and standards. The luxury hotel company currently operates nine hotels in Africa, with three more hotels scheduled to open in the next six months.
