JetBlue introduced its 12th special livery aircraft and new tailfin design in celebration of its 17th anniversary in February, which will appear on several aircraft this year.
JetBlue has a long tradition of adding unique liveries to its Airbus A320 fleet and now expands this tradition to the airline’s Embraer 190s.
Blueprint is the airline’s first E190 to feature a unique paint scheme, and the new Highrise tailfin honors JetBlue’s hometown of New York with a design featuring its iconic skyline. The intricate paint job took two weeks to complete.
“Our design team has done an outstanding job of visually telling a JetBlue story through their fresh and creative lens,” said Jamie Perry, vice president marketing, JetBlue. “Whether looking to the skyline of our hometown for inspiration or creating a storyline to bring a paint scheme to life, the team keeps surprising our crewmembers and our customers with their innovative work.”
The livery designers drew inspiration from styles of various aviation, nautical and space exploration vehicle diagrams to create its mechanical X-ray-like design. The unique paint job draws on both the technical and whimsical aspects of air travel.
The first-ever JetBlue E190 special livery debuted at Boston’s Logan International Airport and will operate on routes served by the E190 throughout the JetBlue network. The Highrise tailfin pattern debuted in New York (JFK) and will be added to additional aircraft this year across the JetBlue network.
