JetBlue revamped its original business class, Mint, and will launch its redesigned, all-private suites and new seating innovation, Mint Studio, on trans-Atlantic routes in summer 2021, beginning with the highly anticipated London route. Mint Studio debuts with 24 private suites on the London route, while a smaller layout with 16 seats will be unveiled on a limited number of flights from New York to Los Angeles in late 2021.
The new Mint Studio offers the most space in a premium cabin of any U.S. airline, based on personal square footage per passenger seat, each with its own sliding door for privacy. Custom-designed cushions from Tuft & Needle and high-tech, comfort fabrics from Tapis Corporation and Ultrafabrics help provide comfort. JetBlue is the first to outfit aircraft with Thompson Aero Seating’s VantageSOLO seat, offering a single-aisle seating solution with a herringbone configuration designed specifically for narrow-body aircraft and customized to the airline’s specifications.
Each aircraft will boast two Mint Studios in the first row, with plenty of space to work or relax in flight. Each suite includes a 22-inch tilting screen, an added side table for enhanced productivity and a guest seat for an additional Mint passenger at cruising altitude. The seat converts into the largest lie-flat bed of any U.S. carrier, based on total reclined bed surface area. The combination of Tuft & Needle’s T&N Adaptive foam and Ultrafabrics’ proprietary Takumi Technology production process ensures a cool, comfortable sleep experience.
“Mint was an idea to make premium travel across the U.S. less stuffy and more affordable, and its performance has exceeded even our most optimistic expectations of going beyond New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Joanna Geraghty, president and chief operating officer, JetBlue. “It’s remarkable how Mint’s thoughtful design has resonated with customers as we successfully grew it to more than 30 routes. We put our heart into this redesign of Mint and were inspired by our original vision of offering customers an exceptional experience at a lower fare — which is what JetBlue is all about.”
