If an Italian interlude isn’t on your schedule before the end of this year, invite la dolce vita into your home with Bauli’s line of traditional, finely made Italian treats from ancient recipes. Ruggero Bauli, a baker’s assistant who — en route to America — was one of the few survivors of the Princess Mafalda steamship wreck, established the bakery in Verona in 1922. Though Bauli and his family later returned to Verona, his confectionary line has once again landed stateside with the launch of Bauli USA.

Delectable choices include the traditional holiday sweet bread, Il Panettone di Milano, made with candied citron, lemon zest and plump raisins, baked in a distinctive cylindrical mold; and Il Pandoro di Verona, a soft golden part-bread, part-cake served during the holiday season. The star-shaped confection from Verona is dusted with confectioner’s sugar to suggest new-fallen snow across the Italian Alps. Other choices include croissants filled with vanilla custard, cherry jam or chocolate cream.
