The Hyatt Regency Chicago, the city’s largest hotel and the largest Hyatt in North America, expects to finish its three-year, $168 million renovation in April. Built in 1974 near the city’s Magnificent Mile district, the 2,019-room hotel started renovations in 2010 with upgrades to the property’s West Tower rooms. The final stage of its upgrades includes renovations in the East Tower lobby, the hotel’s restaurants and its 228,000 square feet of meeting space. Room rates start from $299 per night. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, located four miles south, plans to undergo a $110 million renovation and add a 460-room tower, bringing the hotel’s guestroom total to 1,260, later this year.
