Hyatt Hotels announced last month plans to add 14 properties and more than 2,100 guestrooms to its Indian properties.
Hyatt acknowledges a ballooning tourism industry and relaxed visa rules as the biggest reasons for the big 24-month expansion. The expansion looks to include eight new markets and will establish Hyatt in 27 cities across India.
“Hyatt is one of the longest-running international hotel management brands in India, the first Hyatt hotels in India opened over 30 years ago,” said Dhruva Rathore, vice president development, India, Hyatt.
The expansion includes the Hyatt Centric brand in Goa, the Alila brand and a smattering of hotels through other untouched regions. In the second half of 2016, Hyatt plans to open its first Himalayan resort with Hyatt Regency Dharamshala Resort.
“For Hyatt, India has a high growth potential and remains a market where we can expand our brand representation. Being focused on intentional growth gives us a unique edge as Hyatt can differentiate by having the right assets in its portfolio,” said Sunjae Sharma, vice president operations, India, Hyatt.
