Hyatt marks a new milestone in Portugal with the introduction of its Hyatt Regency brand. The Hyatt Regency Lisbon is expected to open in 2020 with 200 guestrooms and apartments. The waterfront location on Tejo River, situated between Rea Guerra Junqueiro and Avenida da India, is just a short drive from the historic city center and near many popular attractions, such as Lisbon’s two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Belém Tower and Jéronimos Monastery.

Plans include a spa, swimming pool, rooftop bar with river views, courtyard and garden.

“We are delighted by the announcement of plans for the first Hyatt hotel in Portugal as Lisbon is one of Europe’s leading cities in overnight stays and has quickly established itself as a prime destination not only for leisure travelers, but also for larger conventions and events,” said Nuno Galvão-Pinto, regional vice president development, Hyatt. “We look forward to working with United Investments Portugal on this exciting project in Lisbon. This is an important step for Hyatt as we look to expand our brand presence throughout Portugal.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Hyatt on our first development in Lisbon in a premier riverside location in one of the world’s leading cities. With its warm climate, culture, history, gastronomy and beaches, Lisbon truly has it all,” added Carlos Leal, general manager, United Investments Portugal.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
