Hyatt plans to develop its first Hyatt-branded hotel in Malta. The 153-guestroom property on the coast of St. Julian’s is set to open in 2021. Malta is a burgeoning vacation destination, with tourist numbers doubled since 2010. St. Julian’s is one of the most popular spots on the island, thanks to its shopping, dining and entertainment.

“We are thrilled to announce plans for the first Hyatt-branded property in Malta, a country rich in historic architecture and now quickly becoming one of the most sought after destinations for business and leisure travel,” said Guido Frederich, regional vice president development, Europe, Hyatt. “This is a great opportunity to build on the current Hyatt Regency brand presence in Southern Europe, and we look forward to working with the highly experienced developers, Bay Street Holdings, to open a new, exclusive hotel in the area.”

Hyatt Regency Malta’s planned location is only a short walk from the beach and marina and a 20-minute drive from Malta’s international airport. The hotel caters to business and leisure travelers, with its flexible event space for corporate events and weddings, and five-story underground parking garage.

The Hyatt Regency brand continues to grow throughout Europe. Other recently opened or soon-to-be-opened hotels include Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Méditerranée, Hyatt Regency Barcelona Fira, Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid and Hyatt Regency Lisbon.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Review: InterContinental Barcelona

When searching for a place to stay in Barcelona, I was picky. I wanted a well-situated hotel to access all the city has to offer and to serve as a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Spanish hot spot. My search led me to InterContinental Barcelona.
