Hints of European architecture define the soon-to-open Hotel Bennett in Charleston, South Carolina. With an enviable position at the corner of King Street and the city’s historic Marion Square, the hotel boasts dog-friendly rooms, a sophisticated rooftop terrace and plenty of luxury.

Each of the 179 guestrooms and suites are designed with custom furnishings, cueing from traditional Charleston Southern grace and charm. Bathrooms feature pedestal bathtubs and separate showers. Adorned with locally inspired artwork and luxury linens, all rooms come equipped with daily newspaper delivery, comfy terrycloth robes, coffee and tea making stations, minibars and fridges, iPod docking stations and twice-daily housekeeping services.

With arched, floor-to-ceiling windows, the fine dining restaurant is accessed via a wrought iron gateway and offers a menu of new-age Southern cuisine. Other choices include Camellias lady’s lounge with a décor of French Art Deco, etched mirrored ceiling, crystal chandeliers and antique pink stone. This, naturally, is where tea is served, along with a curated wine list and handcrafted aperitifs. Freshly made treats can be enjoyed at Patisserie both inside or outdoors. For relaxation after exploring the city’s many sites, guests retreat to the hotel’s spa for a massage, facial or other indulgence. Five treatment rooms and a couple’s room are supplemented by a fitness center, manicure-pedicure studio, relaxation room and retail space.
