The latest OAG Punctuality League 2019 reveals the most punctual airlines in the world, and, once again, Hong Kong Airlines maintains its top position in the Asia-Pacific region.
Hong Kong Airlines finished 2018 with a punctuality rating of 88.11 per cent. The airline credits ongoing efforts to streamline as one of the reasons for the airline’s high ranking. Worldwide, Hong Kong Airlines is ranked No. 3 in the mainline airline category. To be considered for the mainline category, airlines must have ranked among the top 250 operators globally in terms of available seat kilometres and have operated more than 30,000 flights in 2018.
Hong Kong Airlines operates most of its flights out of Hong Kong International Airport, with 90 per cent originating there. Last year, the airline served 7.64 million passengers to more than 40 destinations.
During the approaching Chinese New Year festivities, Hong Kong Airlines anticipates a 4.2 per cent growth in passengers served during the holiday over 2018.
“Hong Kong Airlines would like to thank its staff, customers and business partners who have and continue to support the company,” the airline said in a statement about the report.
Other high-ranking airlines in the Asia-Pacific region include Bangkok Airways at No. 2 and Qantas at 3.
