Holland America Line offers foodie travelers a unique experience on the high seas with its Culinary Cruises. Each cruise features a member from the line’s Culinary Council. These celebrity chefs host cooking demonstrations, share their expertise, offer recipes for guests to take home and host reservation-only dinners.

“Holland America Line’s culinary program is guided by some of the world’s foremost talents, and no other cruise line has this level of experience from such a team of experts,” said Michael Stendebach, vice president, food, beverage and guest services, Holland America Line. “It’s not every day you learn a recipe directly from the famous chef who created it and hear their secrets to success in the kitchen. We have been eager to reengage our talented Culinary Council chefs to come back on board and offer guests this exclusive level of access.”

Zaandam, 9-Day The Atlantic Coast, Oct. 1–10

French-trained chef and artisan chocolatier Jacques Torres delights travelers with indulgent chocolate desserts and hosts a chocolate surprise dessert parade on board.

Koningsdam, 7-Day Mexican Riviera, Nov. 12-19

Rudi Sodamin, Holland America Line’s master chef and Culinary Council chairman, oversees all of the line’s dining. His namesake French seafood brasserie on board serves imaginative cuisine.

Hotel Hassler Review

Upon arriving in Rome, I was delighted to return to the magical Hotel Hassler Roma for the first time in 20 years, in part because the hotel enjoys an iconic location adjacent to Roman landmarks: the 16th-century Trinita dei Monte Church, Villa Borghese and the Spanish Steps, where the Piazza Spagna welcomes the world and near chic fashion boutiques on Via dei Condotti. Owner, president and general manager Roberto E. Wirth, the fifth generation of a famous Swiss hotelier dynasty, made Hotel Hassler Roma an icon in the international 5-star hotel scene.
