In January, Hawaiian Airlines celebrated its fifth anniversary of service to Seoul, South Korea. The first inaugural flight between Honolulu (HNL) and Incheon (ICN) took place Jan. 12, 2011, and has since served almost 600,000 passengers across more than 2,800 flights with the four times weekly service.
Since launching the service, Hawai’i has seen visitor numbers from South Korea nearly double. In 2014, Hawaiian Airlines upped its flights to Seoul by replacing its Boeing 767-300ER with an Airbus A330, in order to seat more passengers, adding more than 18,000 seats annually to the service. The flight has also been bumped from four times weekly to five times weekly.
Hawaiian Airlines plans to continue improving its service for this profitable market by enhancing the experience offered aboard the A330. Changes include the addition of 28 Extra Comfort seats and 180-degree lie-flat seats.
“Korean tourism to Hawaii has more than doubled since we started this service, and flights to Seoul continue to be a vital and important part of our network. Travelers appreciate our value-for-money offerings, including free checked luggage, premium in-flight amenities and the authentic Hawaiian hospitality delivered to every guest. Our employees embody the culture and inherent beauty of our island home, and proudly share the transformative sights, sounds and taste of Hawai’i the moment you step onboard,” says Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO, Hawaiian Airlines.
