Bringing the Norwegian coziness concept of koselig (it’s the new “hygge”) to a whole new level — and places — Hurtigruten is ready to immerse you in “Norwegianess.” You can learn to be “a happy salmon,” or imagine yourself onboard, all warm and happy with the sensation of Å være midt i smørøyet, which means “to be in the middle of the butter melting in the porridge.”

By now, you’ve no doubt got the gist. Recently awarded the Made in Norway certification from the country’s governmental agency Innovation Norway, Hurtigruten was recognized for its ongoing commitment to promoting and globally sharing Norwegian craftsmanship, authenticity and sustainability. The new Norwegianness campaign adds a light, happy bit of humor.
“Our Norwegianess is one of our most important unique selling points and we are proud of our Norwegian heritage. We also know that our future guests are looking specifically to experience Norway in the most authentic way possible, which is where we’re unbeatable, knowing the Norwegian coast better than anyone. We have sailed this coast for 131 years now. Our crew onboard are from the various towns and cities along it, and they will gladly share their tips. You cannot get closer to experience the real Norway than that,” said Carly Biggart, VP of Americas, Hurtigruten.

Book one of the company’s Original voyages before Nov. 21 of this year and enjoy savings of $1,000 or the equivalent of up to 6,000 Norwegian kroner in onboard credits on a Signature voyage. You can sail in comfort and elegance while gazing out at inspirational landscapes lining the deep fjords. While the sea has always exerted a powerful force on human emotions, offering a scaled perspective on life that’s hard to beat, sailings with Hurtigruten add a whole new level of immersion. There’s even a good chance you’ll find your own mood elevated — or, as the Norwegians say, “Ut på tur, aldri sur” — “Out on a trip, never grumpy.”
