The Grand Mercure brand announced last week it brought a property to the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar.
Tourism in the nation has been on the upswing since 1990. Between 2016 and 2017, the country saw an increase of 18 per cent from 2.9 million visitors to 3.44 million visitors.
“This is our first Grand Mercure in Myanmar and the opening of Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire encapsulates the cultural touchstone of the destination and heritage in bringing local stories to life,” said Patrick Basset, chief operating officer, AccorHotels, Upper Southeast, Northeast Asia and the Maldives.
The new hotel features myriad culinary options across its restaurant, deli and pool bar. The hotel also features a wellness center, which includes an outdoor pool, a children’s pool and a fitness center. A spa and nearby golf course mean there is something for everyone.
