London-based architectural firm Foster + Partners revealed the design for TEMPO Hotel and Residences, scheduled to open in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The hotel project is designed to capture the best views of Praia Brava, a spectacular beach with mountain views frequented by surfers. The project is being developed by MUZE real estate development group, committed to creating timeless and artistic spaces that transform everyday life.

“The TEMPO hotel and residences capture the spirit of this vibrant coastal location,” said David Summerfield, head of Studio, Foster + Partners. “Nature is woven through every part of the development, which will take residents and guests on a truly spectacular journey from the beach to their whole-floor residences and private suites.”

A spectacular landscaped garden at the center of the development will act as a seamless extension of the beachfront, featuring natural trails, pavilions, water features and pools. New buildings will all face the garden, providing a private green space for relaxation, and will contribute to guests’ and residents’ wellbeing. Shaded drop-off zones on both sides of the development will share the same lush landscaping to create a sense of cohesion across the entire site.

The luxurious and private drop-off area will offer direct views of the garden from the moment of arrival. The drop-off connects with a striking hotel lobby and restaurant, including a sunken outdoor seating area further enhancing connections with the landscape.

Each hotel suite offers a private terrace rotated to offer direct views of the oceanfront, and will feature sliding timber screens for privacy and shade. A rooftop infinity pool will wrap around the deck and offer 360-degree views of the water and mountains. Separate residential buildings will feature single, whole-floor residences on every level, with individual private gardens. The development will feature high-quality materials, such as concrete and timber, reflecting the warmth of the area’s natural environment.

The hotel is not scheduled to open until 2028/2029.

Williamsburg Inn Review

You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.

Plan a Legendary Gathering in Honolulu

Myths and origin stories form a powerful framework for the history of Hawai‘i. Marking the horizon behind Honolulu, the ancient volcanic formation of Lē‘ahi — technically a volcanic tuff cone more commonly known to the world as Diamond Head — provides a constant physical reminder of the tales that shaped the history of this location. While researching legends for my Hawai‘i-based Dark Paradise Mysteries series (Kensington Books), I learned the tale of the demigod Maui, who used his enchanted fishing hook to reach into the sea to heave the Hawaiian islands, including Diamond Head, above the surface of the water.
