An assemblage of boutique expeditions to exotic locations serving conscious, informed travelers, Soma Journeys was founded by former television host Cristy Elmendorp with the intention of providing authentic travel excursions to some of the world’s most spiritually powerful destinations. This year sees two new offerings. The first, Dragons and Thunder: A Himalayan Adventure in the Magical Kingdom of Bhutan, billed as the “sun” itinerary, takes place April 12–19. A deep exploration of the culture and spiritual heritage of the Himalayas, the tour includes meditation classes, yoga, scenic mountain hikes and visits to Buddhist temples and monasteries. Prices, per person, begin at $5,950, with meals and accommodations in 4- and 5-star hotels.

The “moon” program, Sacred Myths and Dreams: A Buddhist Pilgrimage to Tibet’s Mount Kailash, takes place Aug. 31–Sept. 22. The journey focuses on an ancient pilgrims’ route through the landscape of Mount Kailash in Western Tibet’s Ngari region, believed by several religions to be the place where heaven and earth meet. Rates for the 23-day program begin at $9,950 per person. In-country flights, drivers, camping equipment and meals are included, with hotel accommodations in boutique, 5-star hotels.
