Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage region of Hạ Long Bay will receive its first golf course in the third quarter of 2017 — a course that is sure to top every golfer’s bucket list.
The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by U.S. company Schmidt-Curley and is being developed by Hanoi-based FLC Group. A hotel, convention centre and several villas will accompany the course.
The world-class course will be perched above Hạ Long Bay’s old town overlooking a limestone karst-riddled bay, offering stunning panoramic views from every hole. Four holes will directly face the picturesque bay while others will be built along steep valleys. Two of the course’s holes are being compared to the iconic seventh hole at Pebble Beach, Calif.
Brian Curley, lead architect, Schmidt-Curley, notes, “If you tell someone — golfer or non-golfer — there are 10 places in the world you must visit for the views, this would be one of them. Throw in a year-round resort with golf and there’s no doubt this will be on every golfer’s wish-list.”
