Works by three iconic photographers and environmentalists will head to the San Juan Islands Museum of Art in Friday Harbor, Wash., later this year. The traveling exhibit, Fragile Waters, shows works from Ansel Adams, Ernest K Brooks II and Dorothy Kerper Monnelly. It opens Earth Day weekend (April 23) and runs through July 18.
Michael Adams, Ernest’s son, as well as Dorothy Kerper Monnelly will be on hand to discuss the works at the opening. Fragile Waters highlights water as a critical resource essential to life on this planet, with the beauty — and fragility — of oceans, rivers, lakes, and other sources depicted.
The exhibit is made up of 117 black-and-white photographs, from Ansel Adam’s famous landscapes to Ernest H. Brooks II’s underwater photography to Dorothy Kerper Monnelly’s moving portraiture of the marshes of Massachusetts.
The San Juan Islands Museum of Art is one of the many highlights in this Washington State archipelago, which is renowned for its coastal and mountain scenery, outstanding dining scene and adventures like sailing cruises, kayaking, hiking, whale watching and more.
