AccorHotels celebrates the first Fairmont luxury property at one of the Maldives’ largest resort lagoons with the opening of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi.

The resort is the only property located in the Shaviyani Atoll in North Maldives, renowned for its pristine beauty. Sirru Fen Fushi translates to “secret water island” in the local Dhivehi language.

The resort offers 112 luxury villas, 200 metres of infinity pools, safari-style tented villas and the Maldives’ first coral regeneration project in the form of an art instillation by underwater naturalist and artist Jason deCaires Taylor.

The Maldives’ stunning marine life is its pride and joy, and the resort, sitting on a previously untouched location, offers guests an unspoiled glimpse into its crystal-clear waters. A manta ray cleaning station can be found at the 5.6-mile house reef, offering a close and extended look at one of the world’s most majestic sea creatures.

Visitors can choose from three kinds of villas on the property, including beach villas, water villas and tented jungle villas. All are designed with copper bathroom fittings and carved wood detailing to capture a bohemian rustic chic vibe.

Dining options at the resort include the Raha Market, an over-water Japanese restaurant; Kata, a sushi bar and sea lounge; and Azure, an over-water fine-dining restaurant with fresh seafood and local catch. Also available to guests are more laid-back options including the Raha Market Bar for small bites; Onu Onu where guests can relax on loungers by fire pits; and the Kata Roof Top Bar overlooking the entire western side of the island.
