Emirates plans to launch a second Airbus A380 service to Sydney (SYD), Australia, this summer, adding 1,890 seats per week to the route. Beginning June 1, the carrier will operate the early morning service between Dubai (DXB) and Sydney using an Airbus A380 rather than its existing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. According to Salem Obaidalla, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for the Far East and Australasia, “Emirates’ decision to commit a second A380 on the flights to Sydney is a clear indication of customer demand for the state-of-the-air aircraft and the growing popularity of the early morning Sydney service.” The Emirates A380 features 489 seats in a three-class configuration, with 14 seats in first class, 76 in business class and 399 in economy.

The second daily A380 flight to Sydney is the airline’s latest move in its Australian expansion. It recently added daily A380 flights to Melbourne (MEL), increased to daily frequency for service to Adelaide (ADL) and increased its Dubai–Perth (PER) route to three flights per day.
