Emirates Boosts Phuket Service

Oct 4, 2015
Daily

Emirates continues to strengthen its international presence with additional frequencies on its route between Dubai (DXB) and Phuket (HKT). To cater to growing demand during the peak winter travel season, the carrier will operate a double-daily service between the two cities from Dec. 1. The Gulf airline will operate the route with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, equipped with eight seats in first class and 42 in business class.

“With the ongoing expansion of Phuket International Airport set to double capacity, a twice-daily service provides Emirates with the perfect opportunity to further support the local travel and tourism industry,” said Thierry Antinori, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Emirates.

“This newly added service will complement our existing six daily flights to Bangkok (BKK) and our recent codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways, offering ease of connection to different cities across Southeast Asia to and from Dubai and providing a smoother, more convenient travel experience,” said Antinori.

Explore Portugal on a Wine Tasting Tour with a Touch of History

All it takes is one glance at the grounds of Quinta Dona Maria, which includes a grand villa and surrounding gardens, to realize wine tasting in Portugal comes with a good dose of history. The vineyard is located in Estremoz, just northeast of the first-century Roman ruins found in Evora. In 1718 King João V built this estate for his lover, Dona Maria. When she died, the current owner’s ancestors purchased the land and have been making wine ever since. Taste the wine, which is terrific, especially the full-bodied red Dona Maria Grand Reserve. Then venture inside a building that stores large amphora vases, including one dating back to the 1200s.

One of Hawai’i’s Most Popular (and Controversial) Attractions Being Demolished

If you haven’t actually climbed them, you’ve seen beautiful photos of them at one time or another: Hawai’i’s Stairway to Heaven, located on Oahu. The 3,922-step hike ascends Koolau Mountain Range and has been illegal to hike since 1987. But this has not stopped travelers and locals from doing so, even with a steep fine of $1,000 for trespassing.
