Italy’s Emilia Romagna region invites music-loving travelers to experience the beauty of fall with cultural attractions and festivals.
Bologna, known as UNESCO’s City of Music, offers music fans special experiences including concerts at Oratorio di Santa Cecilia, which support a daily meal program. Visit Bruno Stefanini’s workshop for an up-close view of viola and violin making. Book the four-day music and opera tour for a guided experience in the city.
Head to Modena, home of renowned Teatro Comunale de Modena. This ornately designed theater hosts a range of operas this fall, from classics to contemporary performances.

Ravenna hosts an autumnal version of its popular music and culture festival Nov. 12–16. Ravenna Festival’s Autumn Trilogy will be held at Teatro Alighieri, with three productions from Handel: Orlando, Alcina and Messiah.
Parma, Italy, debuts new productions this fall showcasing operatic composer Giuseppe Verdi. Held at Teatro Regio Parma, the 25th Festival Verdi and 10th Verdi Off will highlight Verdi’s Shakespearean operas Otello, Macbeth and Falstaff. These festivals take place Sept. 20–Oct. 19. Additionally, Verdi Off offers more than 300 free musical and theatrical events.
Looking ahead to 2026, Teatro Regio Parma celebrates its 197th anniversary. Its 2026 opera season will present Orfeo ed Euridice, Norma and Manon Lescaut. Regio Young, a program created for opera patrons under the age of 30, will offer performances and workshops for its 2025–2026 season.
