EL AL Israel Airlines launched a new digital program dedicated to supporting and accelerating startups in the aviation and travel industries. Called “Cockpit,” the program is designed to bridge the gap between a consumer’s idea and its realization and help create opportunities for entrepreneurs to pilot ideas.
Startups taking advantage of the Cockpit program are offered a number of convenient benefits, including access to Microsoft Ventures accelerator, providing technological platforms, mentoring and office space; initial funding; access to EL AL systems for development of a Beta site platform; and mentoring in marketing, advertising, engineering, service and technology.
Since the launch of Cockpit, several startups have introduced their products to EL AL and its partners. Participants include BidFlyer, a public platform providing a new channel for ticket sales, and ShopnFly, allowing travelers to search and compare duty-free prices as well as purchase and collect goods at airport stores on the aircraft and at hotels.
As Israel is known as “The Startup Nation,” the country’s flag carrier endeavors to support startups passionate about travel and aviation and fly them to the forefront of technology with its new Cockpit digital travel and aviation hub.
