The Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train, Southeast Asia, announced its return to the rails February 2024 after a long hiatus. The train will launch two new seasonal journeys from Singapore, traveling through Malaysia’s landscapes and cities.

These two journeys, Essence of Malaysia (November–February) and Wild Malaysia (March–October), will be offered via the train’s 15 carriages as it departs Singapore’s Woodlands station and travels through Penang, Langkawi, and, for the first time, Taman Negara National Park before returning to Singapore.

Onboard, guests are treated to elevated dishes rooted in Peranakan culture, blending Chinese, Malay and other Southeast Asian cuisines to create bold flavors and intricate meals. Of the 15 restyled carriages, eight are sleeping cars, all decked out with ornate marquetry, Malaysian embroidery and fine silks. Guests can choose from three different cabin categories: Pullman, State and Presidential, all of which come with air conditioning and private bathrooms.

Pullman cabins draw inspiration from Kuala Lumpur with red sofas and dramatic drapery, while the State cabins reflect Penang’s marine locale with bright blue and greens incorporated throughout. The Presidential cabins embody regal opulence with gold hues and rich embroidery. In the Piano Bar Car, guests are met with a great Tiger orchid blooming across the entire length of the car.

The Essence of Malaysia and Wild Malaysia itineraries are both three nights and start at $3,410 per person.
