In the first five months of 2018, Dubai International Airport saw 36.9 million passengers.
In the past 12 months, 88.2 million passengers came through DXB, up 2.6 per cent from the previous year. In May, traffic was down 3.8 per cent due to Ramadan, Dubai Airports said.
Eastern Europe saw the most growth of any region, with 19.4 per cent growth. Routes to Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania grew.
India was the top destination for the period, with more than 1 million traveling to the nation. Saudi Arabia comes up next with 495,242 passengers, while the United Kingdom brought 429,893 passengers through the airport.
The airport’s efficiency increased overall, accommodating 209 passengers per flight compared to last year’s 205 passengers per flight on 32,620 flight movements.
On average, DXB handled 7.4 million passengers each month through May 2018. In terms of international travel, DXB ranks No. 1, and ranks No. 3 in terms of total traffic.
