Delta Air Lines announced it will offer a new daily non-stop flight between New York (JFK) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) beginning Dec. 21.
The airline’s alliance with GOL Linhas Aerear Inteligentes will extend the reach of service to 23 destinations within Brazil and will provide seamless connections at Antonio Carlos Jobim International.
“We listen to our customers and continuously strive to offer them increasingly convenient ways to travel, both for business and leisure,” said Luciano Macagno, director-Brazil, Delta Air Lines. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to offer a daily direct flight from Rio de Janeiro to our second-largest international hub at New York-JFK. Delta’s continued route expansions demonstrate our commitment to the Brazilian market and the strength of our alliance with our Brazilian partner, GOL.”
The proposed daily flight, pending approval, will depart New York at 9:24 p.m. and arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 10:30 a.m. The return will depart Rio de Janeiro at 10:15 p.m. and return to New York at 5:36 a.m.
The flight will be operated on a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring 35 Delta One full flat-bed seats with direct aisle access for every passenger. The aircraft also features oversized personal entertainment screens; industry-leading, Latin-inspired food selections; and wines selected by master sommelier, Andrea Robinson.
