Delta Air Lines continues to push the boundaries on sustainability with a new commitment to become the first carbon neutral global airline.
Delta’s commitment to carbon neutrality comes with a $1 billion investment. The 10-year commitment begins with the mitigation of all emissions beginning March of this year.
The airline aims to invest in innovation and accelerate the development of clean air travel and reduction of carbon emissions and waste.
“There is no substitute for the power that travel has to connect people, which our world needs today more than ever before. As we connect customers around the globe, it is our responsibility to deliver on our promise to bring people together and ensure the utmost care for our environment,” said Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines.
Most of Delta’s carbon emissions, 98 percent, come from its aircraft. Because of this, Delta is working to increase jet fuel efficiency, remove carbon emissions wherever possible and work with stakeholders and employees to tackle the footprint.
