Curio Collection by Hilton makes its first appearance in the Netherlands in 2020. Set within a historic monastery built in 1873, the new property is The Monastery Hotel Koningsbosch, set in the province of Limburg, near the German and Belgian borders.

“The hotel will offer travelers an authentic local experience, within the historic surroundings of the former monastery building. The Netherlands continues to prosper as a thriving tourist destination, and this exciting project presents another opportunity for guests to enjoy our world-class hospitality,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton.

The property includes 200 guestrooms and an upscale restaurant and bar, featuring acclaimed neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque architecture. The countryside setting offers cycling and hiking for guests, alongside easy access to nearby hubs, such as Dusseldorf. Popular religious sites and monuments are also located nearby.

“Over the past two years, we have worked very hard to secure the longterm future of the monastery as a working hotel, together with the municipal authorities and Hilton,” the Gelasius Vastgoedmaatschappij B.V team, with which Hilton signed a management agreement, said in a statement. “The environmental permit is expected to be granted this month so that the restoration and renovation of the monastery can commence. It is expected that the hotel will provide hundreds of jobs and have a positive international economic impact on the region.”
