Culture For Kids With Immersive Adventures At Lincoln Center

May 6, 2016
Daily

The production of Meet Me at the Fountain at Lincoln Center makes its world premier this spring with a site-specific interactive adventure fashioned just for children. Part of the LC Kids program, Meet Me at the Fountain is a multi-part immersive experience that takes participants throughout the Lincoln Center campus to solve a mystery and save an opera star. Episode 1: The Canary Flies at Midnight will be offered over the weekend of May 21–22. Children will don the personas of an underground league of cultural crime fighters bent on saving the center’s stages and protecting the opera diva from harm.

The first original commission for LC Kids, Meet Me at the Fountain was created by Drew Petersen, who also directs the live production. Petersen serves as the associate artistic director of the New York-based Trusty Sidekick Theater Company, which produces original works for young people. He is also the playwright author of Up and Away, commissioned by Lincoln Center Education for children with autism. Tickets can be purchased online, but spots are limited to groups of a maximum of 14 children aged seven and up taking part in each 30-minute adventure, with 10 separate sessions planned for each date.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
