Crystal Cruises Adds Winter Itineraries

Crystal Cruises will be offering three new itineraries this winter. Each lasts 14 days and is hosted on board the Crystal Serenity, and either begins or ends in New Orleans.

“There’s something about traveling to destinations that are entirely different than one’s usual surroundings — from the climate to the cuisine — that creates a true sense of vacation. Many of our guests live in areas that experience snow and ice as early as October, and these itineraries are the perfect luxury escape to rejuvenate oneself and enjoy some tropical refreshment,” said Edie Rodriguez, president and CEO, Crystal Cruises.

The first itinerary, departing Nov. 8, leaves Fort Lauderdale and makes stops in the British Virgin Islands, French West Indies, Turks & Caicos, St. Barts, Montego Bay and Grand Cayman. The last stop on the journey is New Orleans, where guests have an opportunity to stay overnight.

The round-trip New Orleans cruise departs Nov. 22 and travels to Mexico via the Mississippi River before making stops in Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, San Juan, St. Barts, St. Kitts and Key West. Onboard experiences include performances by leading jazz musicians and a culinary focus on microbreweries and craft beers.

Leaving New Orleans Dec. 6 for Miami, the third cruising opportunity includes stops in the French West Indies, Turks & Caicos, Grand Cayman and Curaçao. Onboard experiences include programming for avid golfers and wellness travelers.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
