Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Ark., has started a major concourse renovation to improve passenger experience in the state’s largest airport. The yearlong project will complement previous improvements and include amenities not often found in larger airports.

Construction will occur at night and during off-peak travel times to minimize inconvenience; however, construction will pause during the holiday season and resume in January. Airline gates will be temporarily relocated on an individual basis by carrier.

“We conduct research on a regular basis that provides us with passenger feedback to guide efforts on what customers expect at their airport,” said Ronald Mathieu, airport executive director. “The renovation has been designed around the traveler by including items to make their journey more enjoyable.”

Renovations include modernized concourse interior; new gate seating with in-seat recharge for portable devices; enhancements to technology with faster WiFi and improved cellular connectivity; new heated and cooled jet bridges; new arrival and departure monitors and visual paging; and additional concourse restrooms. These changes follow previous renovations to the airport’s ticket lobby, security checkpoint and baggage claim, a new in-line baggage screening system and parking guidance.

The project is funded with passenger facility charges and airport retained earnings.
