U.S. Customs and Border Protection is looking to expand Global Entry, a program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to receive expedited clearance upon arrival into the United States, to new locations. As of the end of last year, the program was available at 42 U.S. airports and 12 preclearance locations to more than 1.8 million enrolled members. CBP plans to enter into negotiations to grow air preclearance operations to new locations, allowing the same immigration, customs and agriculture inspections of international air passengers performed on arrival in the United States to be completed before departure at foreign airports instead. Currently, foreign preclearance operations are available at 15 international airports in six countries, with locations in Canada, the Caribbean, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.
