If every building tells a story, The Beaumont in London is an entire encyclopedia of marvelous tales dreamt up by hotelier Jeremy King. Among its 50 rooms and 23 suites is ROOM, an inhabitable, livable sculpture on the façade of the hotel that’s an architectural extension created by sculptor Antony Gormley. Resembling a giant cubed figure from the outside, the one-bedroom suite of dark, fumed oak includes a stark, high-contrast white marble bathroom. Elsewhere, rooms are filled with details such as mohair velvet chairs, coffered ceilings, deep casement windows, bronze Art Deco door handles on the lacquered wardrobes, rosewoods, chrome touches and eau-de-nil glass tiling in the generously proportioned bathrooms. Throughout the hotel, refined European Art Deco décor by Richmond International defines spaces, from the exclusive guest’s Cub Room, to the timber-paneled American Bar and stained glass roof lights and original murals of The Colony Grill Room.
