British Airways i360 opened earlier this month as the world’s tallest moving observation tower. Designed by the creators of the London Eye, it is located on the Brighton shore, the most popular destination in the southeast United Kingdom after London. The tower takes visitors up 450 feet in an enclosed glass-viewing pod. “The glass viewing pod, 10 times the size of a London Eye capsule and capable of carrying up to 200 passengers, will slowly rise up a slender steel tower to a height of 450 feet to provide passengers with stunning views of Brighton and Hove and a beautiful panorama of the south coast and English Channel,” said David Marks and Julia Barfield, creators, Marks Barfield Architects. Rides are 20 minutes during daylight hours and 30 minutes at night, when the pod also acts as a sky bar. Tickets are £13.50. Opening hours are 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday, and 10 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. “Brighton is home to thousands of our customers and colleagues and we fly to more than 65 destinations across the globe from Gatwick, so we are delighted to be involved in this exciting attraction that we know UK and international visitors will love,” said Lynne Embleton, director of strategy, British Airways.
