British Airways recently announced plans for a refresh of its first-class and Club lounges in Chicago (ORD), due for completion this spring. When newly unveiled, both lounges will feature updated decor, flooring, food stations and furnishings, as well as more charging ports throughout the lounges.
Changes are also planned for British Airways’ lounges in Edinburgh (EDI) and Berlin (BER).
“Lounges are incredibly important to our customers traveling in our Club and first-class cabins, or to those with Executive Club status, and they are rightly a focus of our £6.5 billion customer investment. We’ve recently refurbished nine lounges across the network, and we’re looking forward to refurbishing more in 2020,” said Carolina Martinoli, director of brand and customer experience, British Airways.
British Airways additionally plans to upgrade a number of its lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5, as well as its Elemis Spa at JFK. Details and timelines for the two projects are not yet available.

Opened this past November, Osaka Excel Tokyu Hotel rethinks the classic Japanese business hotel format in a delightful way. While the basic design concept is rooted in generations-old Japanese aesthetics, its wow factor comes from the interior designers’ approach of filtering them through a kaleidoscope. This effect is accomplished with ornate hexagonal lamps, carpeting with geometric shape motifs and pops of happy gold and blue hues. The lobby adds to that with a whimsical, but sophisticated mix of artwork and decorative ornaments, with a color palette and ornamentation that extends to 364 private rooms and suites throughout 17 floors.
