Last year was a huge year for Brisbane International Airport (BNE) as it celebrates its busiest year ever.
In 2019, Brisbane Airport facilitated travel for more than 24.1 million people. In addition to the largest sum of travellers to ever use the airport in a year, Brisbane Airport Corp. as a whole recorded the biggest growth amongst major Australian gateway airports in 2019.
International travellers swelled by 266,182 to more than 6.3 million passengers, representing a 2.2 per cent increase. Domestic traffic increased by 1.3 per cent to 17.7 million.
“The growth in visitor numbers is good news for our city, with the latest International and National Visitor Surveys conducted by Tourism Research Australia showing record expenditure occurring in Brisbane by both domestic and international visitors,” said Gert-Jan de Graaf, CEO, Brisbane Airport Corp.
